ABOUT US
Situated on over 150 acres of rolling hills just east of Oxford, North Grove is a premier sport horse facility that serves as a hub for the local eventing and dressage community.
Founded in 2019 by David Misenhelter, the park was designed to be a "haven" for competitive riders and horses alike, blending professional-grade amenities with a supportive, inclusive atmosphere.
Here is a closer look at what defines North Grove:
The Grounds & Facilities The property is purpose-built for the sport of eventing (a triathlon of equestrian sports), featuring extensive training grounds that cater to riders from beginner to preliminary levels.
-
Arenas & Courses: The centerpiece is a 150' x 250' stadium arena with all-weather synthetic footing, ensuring year-round riding. The expansive cross-country course includes water complexes, banks, and ditches.
-
Stabling: The main barn houses 20 stalls (12x12) with outdoor runs, designed for maximum ventilation and horse comfort.
-
Rider Amenities: A climate-controlled clubhouse offers a full kitchen, conference room, and showers, making it comfortable for working students or boarders spending long days at the barn.
Training & Programs North Grove operates as both a boarding facility and a riding academy, known for its structured yet welcoming approach to equestrian education.
-
Riding Academy: They offer a progressive curriculum for juniors and adults, with a string of safe school horses available for those who don't own their own mount.
-
Competition Focus: While friendly to beginners, the training program is serious about competitive success, regularly traveling to horse trials throughout the South and hosting clinics with top professionals like Meghan O'Donoghue.
-
Events: Beyond daily training, the park hosts schooling shows (dressage, show jumping, and combined tests) and is even available as a venue for weddings and corporate events.
Leadership The facility is owned and managed by David Misenhelter, a certified riding instructor who also serves with the Oxford Police Department's Mounted Patrol. His background in law enforcement and classical riding fundamentals shapes the barn's culture, which emphasizes safety, discipline, and building a calm, confident partnership between horse and rider.
